Standard Jewelry Lengths

To make it a bit easier to select the right size of jewelry when shopping online, here's some info on the standard sizes for American women.  This mini-guide should give you an idea of what these sizes look like in comparison to each other.

Necklaces


Choker 

  • intended to fit closely around the neck 
  • typically 14 to 16 inches (35.6 to 40.6 cm) for women
  • if you measure yourself, measure your neck and add 1.5 to 2.5 inches (3.8 to 6.4 cm)

Princess Length

  • typically 17 to 19 inches (43.2 to 48.3 cm) for women




Matinee Length
  • typically 20 to 24 inches (35.6 to 40.6 cm) for women

  • typically 30 to 36 inches (35.6 to 40.6 cm) for women
  • drape beyond the bust line



Lariat
  • typically 37 to 50 inches (94 to 127 cm) for women




Other JewelryBracelet
  • typically 6.5 to 8 inches (16.5 to 20 cm) for women with 7 inches (17.8 cm) being the most common


Anklet
  • typically 9 to 11 inches (22.9 to 28 cm) for women with 10 inches (25.4 cm) being the most common
  • designed to be worn around the ankle
